Tallinn - Tartu - Riga - Vilnius train connection
Starting from January 6, 2025, it will be possible to travel by train between Tallinn, Riga, and Vilnius. The connection will operate once daily with transfers in Valga and Riga. Initially, tickets can be purchased from each train operator's website, app, ticket machine, or directly from onboard customer service staff.
- On the Tallinn – Tartu – Valga route, the service will be operated by Elron using Stadler Flirt trains, with express stops at the following stations: Balti Jaam, Kitseküla, Ülemiste, Tapa, Tamsalu, Jõgeva, Tartu, Elva, and Valga.
- On the Valga – Riga route, the service will be provided by Latvian train operator AS Pasažieru vilciens (Vivi) using modernized DR1 trains. Stops include: Valga, Lugaži, Strenči, Valmiera, Lode, Cēsis, Sigulda, Inčukalns, Garkalne, Jugla, Zemitāni, and Riga. On the reverse Riga – Valga route, the stops are: Riga, Zemitāni, Jugla, Inčukalns, Sigulda, Līgatne, Ieriķi, Cēsis, Lode, Valmiera, Strenči, Lugaži, and Valga.
- On the Riga – Vilnius route, the service will be operated by Lithuanian train operator LTG Link using PESA 730 trains, with stops at the following stations: Riga, Jelgava, Joniškis, Šiauliai, Radviliškis, Kėdainiai, Jonava, Kaišiadorys, and Vilnius.
Tickets
For multi-country trips, tickets must be purchased separately from each train operator. Tickets are available online, via mobile apps, from ticket machines, or onboard from customer service staff.
- Tallinn – Tartu – Valga: Tickets can be purchased from Elron's ticketing system (pre-sale up to 14 days), onboard ticket machines, or from onboard customer service staff. Numbered and reserved seats are only available with First-Class tickets.
- Valga – Riga: Tickets can be purchased from Vivi's ticketing system (pre-sale up to 10 days), Vivi’s app, or from onboard customer service staff. Seats are unnumbered.
- Riga – Vilnius: Tickets are available from LTG Link's ticketing system (pre-sale up to 30 days), LTG Link’s app, or onboard from customer service staff. All seats are numbered, and First-Class tickets are available. Light refreshments are offered onboard – check out the menu!

The table shows standard/second-class ticket prices (for cross-border trips, the prices of different operators are combined). Information on First-Class ticket prices and applicable discounts can be found on the websites of Elron, Vivi, and LTG Link.
Operators
Travel between Tallinn, Tartu, Riga, and Vilnius is offered by different passenger train operators. Each operator enters into a transport agreement with the passenger on its own behalf and under its own responsibility. This does not constitute a single transport agreement (direct ticket) under EU Regulation 2021/782.
- Elron (AS Eesti Liinirongid): A state-owned operator in Estonia, providing passenger train services on tracks owned by Eesti Raudtee AS and Edelaraudtee AS. In 2023, Elron trains carried 7.83 million passengers.
- AS Pasažieru vilciens: A state-owned Latvian operator offering passenger train services under the Vivi brand in the Republic of Latvia. In 2023, Vivi trains carried 17.1 million passengers.
- UAB LTG Link: A state-owned Lithuanian operator providing passenger train services in the Republic of Lithuania. In 2023, LTG Link trains carried 5 million passengers. The company also operates routes between Vilnius–Riga and Vilnius–Warsaw–Krakow.
