Narva - Tapa - Tartu - Riga - Vilnius train connection
ATTENTION! CHANGES TO THE TIMETABLE
Starting from 16 June, railway infrastructure works will take place on the Elva–Valga section. As a result, the Elva–Valga line will be closed to train traffic on Tuesdays and Wednesdays (except during the Midsummer week).
Train services will operate as usual on all other days. However, on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, tickets for international journeys will not be sold.
On the international Tallinn–Riga–Vilnius route, there are delays in train traffic between Riga and Vilnius due to railway works. This means that trains arrive later in Vilnius and depart earlier from Vilnius. Exact departure times are constantly changing, so it is recommended to check the latest information on our website.
On the Tallinn–Riga section, trains operate according to the regular schedule.
Instead of the usual 7:30 departure, trains depart from Vilnius at:

Conveniently from Virumaa to Riga or Vilnius!
Starting from March 2025, you can travel by train from Narva, Jõhvi, Kiviõli, and Rakvere to both Latvia and Lithuania. The train to Tartu, Riga, and Vilnius departs once a day, with transfers at Tapa and Valga stations.

Stops and route
- On the Narva – Tapa section, the journey is operated by Elron (Stadler Flirt train), and the express train stops at the following stations: Narva, Jõhvi, Kiviõli, Rakvere, Tapa.
- On the Tapa – Tartu – Valga section, the journey is operated by Elron (Stadler Flirt train), and the express train stops at the following stations: Tapa, Tamsalu, Jõgeva, Tartu, Elva, Valga.
- On the Valga – Riga section, the journey is operated by Latvian passenger train operator AS Pasažieru vilciens (Vivi), and the train stops at the following stations: Valga, Lugaži, Strenči, Valmiera, Lode, Cēsis, Līgatne, Sigulda, Inčukalns, Garkalne, Jugla, Zemitāni, Riga.
- On the Riga – Valga section, the train stops at the following stations: Riga, Zemitāni, Jugla, Inčukalns, Sigulda, Līgatne, Ieriķi, Cēsis, Lode, Valmiera, Strenči, Lugaži, Valga.
- On the Riga – Vilnius section, the journey is operated by the Lithuanian passenger train operator LTG Link, and the train stops at the following stations: Riga, Jelgava, Joniškis, Šiauliai, Radviliškis, Kėdainiai, Jonava, Kaišiadorys, Vilnius.
Tickets
The most convenient way to purchase a ticket for the entire journey (Estonia - Latvia, Estonia - Lithuania direction) is in advance through the Elron ticketing system or mobile app. Tickets can also be purchased separately from the operators serving each section.
- Tickets for the Narva – Tapa – Tartu – Valga route can be purchased through the Elron ticketing system (ticket sales up to 14 days in advance), from the ticket machine on the train, or from the customer service agent. Reserved seats are only available with first-class tickets.
- Tickets for the Valga – Riga route can be purchased through the Vivi ticketing system (ticket sales up to 10 days in advance), from the Vivi app, or from the customer service agent on the train.
- Tickets for the Riga – Vilnius route can be purchased through the LTG Link ticketing system (ticket sales up to 30 days in advance), from the LTG Link app, or from the customer service agent on the train. All seats in the train are numbered, and first-class tickets are also available. There is also catering on the train – check out the menu!
Tickets are available in standard/second class.
Stadler FLIRT
The Narva – Jõhvi – Kiviõli – Rakvere – Tapa and Tapa – Jõgeva – Valga – Riga sections are served by Elron Stadler FLIRT trains.
Onboard facilities include:
- First and standard class
- Free WiFi, computer tables with power outlets
- 2 wheelchair spaces, the ability to park a stroller
- Up to 10 paid bike spaces (must be booked in advance at www.elron.ee)
- WC (including changing tables for infants), accessible to passengers with mobility impairments

PESA 730 ML
On the Valga – Riga and Riga – Vilnius routes, the trains are operated by the PESA 730 ML trains.
Onboard facilities include:
- First and second class (first and second-class tickets are sold for the Riga – Vilnius line, but no reserved seats are sold for the Valga – Riga line)
- Free WiFi (Starlink), computer tables with power outlets
- Catering (see the menu)
- Wheelchair and bike spaces, the ability to park a stroller
- WC (including changing tables for infants), accessible to passengers with mobility impairments
- Automatic climate control system
The Valga – Riga line is operated by Latvian passenger train operator Vivi, and the Riga – Vilnius line is operated by Lithuanian passenger train operator LTG Link.

Elron (AS Eesti Liinirongid) on riigile kuuluv operaatorfirma, mis korraldab Eesti Raudtee AS ja Edelaraudtee AS-le kuuluval raudteel reisirongiliiklust. 2023. aastal tehti Elroni rongidega 7,83 miljonit reisi.
AS Pasažieru vilciens on Läti riigile kuuluv operaatorfirma, mis korraldab Vivi kaubamärgi all reisirongiliiklust Läti Vabariigis. 2023. aastal tehti Vivi rongidega 17,1 miljonit reisi.
UAB LTG Link on Leedu riigile kuuluv operaatorfirma, mis korraldab reisirongiliiklust Leedu Vabariigis. 2023. aastal tehti LTG Linki rongidega 5 miljonit reisi. Ettevõte opereerib ka Vilnius – Riia ja Vilnius – Varssavi – Krakovi liine.
