Trains arriving from Lithuania and Latvia delayed due to severe weather conditions

On Sunday, 23 August, temporary changes have been made to the timetables of international train services due to severe weather conditions in Lithuania and Latvia.

“The train that departed from Vilnius early this morning will arrive in Riga nearly an hour and a half later than scheduled due to the severe weather conditions. As a result, delays will also occur as far as Tartu and Tallinn,” said Kristo Mäe, Head of Communications at Elron. “As strong storm winds knocked trees onto the railway between Riga and Valga during the night, the 7:30 a.m. direct Riga–Tartu–Tallinn train and the 9:30 a.m. Riga–Tartu–Tallinn service involving a transfer are also running late. We apologise to passengers for any inconvenience caused.”

In Estonia, trains departing in the direction of Latvia and Lithuania are currently departing according to schedule.

“As weather conditions can change rapidly, we recommend that passengers follow the Elron website, www.elron.ee, where up-to-date information on changes is available,” Mäe added. “Passengers can also contact customer support by phone on 616 0245.”
