With the change to winter time there will be changes to rail timetables, while the durations of some journeys will be shorter

As of Sunday 25 October, there will be some changes to the railway timetable for all routes. The durations of journeys to Narva and Viljandi will be reduced and an evening express will also be added to the Narva route.

With the clocks going back there will be changes to the rail timetables, with the departures of trains running between Tallinn and Narva being most affected.

‘As happens every spring and autumn, some changes to the timetables are also unavoidable on this occasion. On the other hand, we have reason to cheer with our customers, as maintenance work in the section between Tapa and Narva have been completed. We will therefore be able to get our customers to their destinations faster. The express journey to Narva will take less than two hours and fifteen minutes. In order to allow customers to make maximum use of the fast connections, we will relaunch the evening express in both directions on the Narva line,’ said Ronnie Kongo, sales and development manager at Elron.

‘Changes will also be made to timetables for journeys to TartuRapla, Türi, and Viljandi. Speed limits which had to be observed during the maintenance work will be removed and the durations of journeys to Türi and Viljandi will be reduced. It will now take the express service just one hour and 55 minutes to arrive at Viljandi and we are hoping to make this journey even quicker in December.’

In the western direction, the maintenance work is still ongoing. Customers will have to continue to use rail replacement buses for some departures on the Turba route until 28 October.

Further information about changes to the timetable can also be found on the Elron website and on the information boards on platforms. Free rail travel information can also be obtained by calling the 24-hour information line on 616 0245.
